Oakville • Community Giving
A local psychology initiative designed to make one high-quality assessment more accessible to a family who may otherwise go without.
The hope is to make this an annual tradition in Oakville — something families and community partners can come to expect each year.
Partner With The Initiative
it takes a village
Psychological assessments can give families something incredibly valuable: an explanation. They can help a child understand why certain things feel harder, help parents make sense of what they are seeing, and help schools know how to support a student more effectively.
They can also be expensive and difficult to access. For some families, the cost means that questions remain unanswered even when an assessment could meaningfully change the path forward.
The Annual Assessment Initiative was created to bring local psychologists together around one manageable act of community care. Each year, the goal is to partner with an Oakville psychology practice and help provide one psychological assessment at no cost to a local family facing financial barriers.
One family. One assessment. One community coming together to make it possible.
A community partnership
The details may evolve from year to year depending on the participating practice and available resources, but the guiding idea stays the same.

When the annual initiative opens, the community will be given information about how a local family can be nominated for consideration.
One selected family receives an assessment at no cost, with the exact assessment process and clinical decisions remaining with the participating psychology practice.
The goal is to return each year and gradually build a recognizable Oakville tradition of psychologists giving back to the community together.
For community partners
If your practice is looking for a concrete, local way to give back, I would love to hear from you. The intention is to make participation manageable and collaborative while creating something meaningful for a family in our community.
You do not need to have every detail figured out before reaching out. We can talk about what your practice could realistically contribute and what the partnership might look like that year.
For families & nominators
This page is intended to explain the initiative and connect with potential community partners. Eligibility criteria, timing, nomination instructions and the type of assessment available may vary each year and will be posted when confirmed.
